About Me

Abbie Doll, Gestalt coach in Port Townsend, Washington

Hi, I’m Abbie.

I work with thoughtful adults navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, and patterns that continue to repeat despite insight and self-reflection.

My work is experiential and process-focused. We don’t work only by talking about your life from a distance—we also work with what is happening as it unfolds, in real time.

This includes how you relate, how you respond under pressure, what you move toward or avoid, and what happens in moments that are easy to miss but often carry something important.

Why I Do This Work

For all of my life, I have been drawn to work that places me alongside people during meaningful and often difficult moments.

As a veterinarian and veterinary hospital owner, I spent years helping people navigate uncertainty, responsibility, grief, difficult decisions, and the complexities of caring deeply about something that matters.

What continues to interest me is how people meet these moments—how we protect ourselves, how we adapt, what patterns develop in relationship, and what becomes possible when those patterns are brought into awareness.

Today, coaching gives me the opportunity to explore those questions with people in a deeper and more sustained way.

How I Work

I am grounded in Gestalt therapy and draw from attachment-based approaches, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

In practice, this means we are often working with experience as it unfolds—not only reflecting on patterns afterward, but noticing them as they emerge.

Sessions tend to be collaborative and experiential, with attention to both relational and somatic experience as it is happening.

Ways We Can Work Together

I offer coaching online via Zoom and in person in Port Townsend, Washington.

In-person sessions generally take place in my private coaching studio in Port Townsend—a quiet space designed for reflection, conversation, and experiential exploration.

For clients who prefer movement and/or being outdoors, I also offer walk-and-talk sessions on the nearby Larry Scott Trail. For some, walking creates a different kind of awareness and allows the work to unfold in ways that feel more natural than sitting indoors.

In-studio sessions may also include guided explorations and attention to what is happening in the body when these support awareness beyond conversation alone.

And for folks who would like to cover more ground in a single meeting, I also offer half-day, full-day, and multi-day intensives.

Training + Credentials

I am a Gestalt Professional Coach (GPCC), certified through the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland.

In addition to my coaching certification, I have completed over eight years of postgraduate training in Gestalt therapy, including work through Gestalt Associates Training Los Angeles (GATLA), the Gestalt Therapy Center of Madison, Seattle Gestalt & Attachment, and I continue advanced training and supervision.

I am also involved with the Gestalt Therapy Institute of Los Angeles (GTILA), where I currently serve on the Board of Directors.

My work is further informed by attachment theory and emotionally focused approaches, which support a deeper understanding of relational patterns and change.
